Jan. 24, 2007

LAWRENCE, Kan. — The University of Kansas tennis team will return to the courts on Saturday to take on 20th-ranked Texas in the Big 12 Conference opener for both squads. The dual is set to begin at noon at First Serve in Lawrence.

The 59th-ranked Jayhawks enter the contest with a record of 1-2 after defeating Drake and falling to Indiana and Tulsa last weekend. The Longhorns have yet to play a match this season.

Junior Elizaveta Avdeeva, sophomore Edina Horvath and freshman Kunigunda Dorn each went 2-1 in singles play in KU’s first three duals, and Avdeeva and Horvath teamed up to go 3-0 in doubles play during the opening weekend.

Texas defeated Kansas, 6-1, last season in Austin, extending its all-time series lead over the Jayhawks to 18-0.
