AD’s Honor Roll Recognizes 13 Jayhawk Baseball Players

The Kansas baseball team placed 13 student-athletes on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the 2008 fall semester, including sophomore outfielder Casey Lytle, who earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

“I’d like to congratulate our team for their accomplishments in the classroom this past semester,” head coach Ritch Price said. “I’d also like to give a shout out to Academic Advisor Glenn Quick for his providing his expertise and commitment to the classroom success of our guys.”

Other players on the Honor Roll include: seniors Nick Faunce and Paul Smyth; juniors Travis Blankenship, Max Ellenbecker, Shaeffer Hall, Brett Lisher and Wally Marciel; sophomores Greg Herbst and T.J. Walz and freshmen Jordan Dreiling, Jake Marasco, and Colton Murray.

The Athletic Director’s Honor Roll is comprised of student-athletes who were or are eligible for competition in their sport’s current season and who made at least a 3.0 GPA during the fall semester.

In a recent article in STACK Magazine, the University of Kansas was named the No. 25 overall Division I athletics program in the country for academically minded athletes. The magazine ranked the Jayhawks 16th in the country in both football and baseball.

The Jayhawks will open the 2009 season on Feb. 20 when they take on Air Force in the Service Academy Classic in Millington, Tenn.
