Next month Karina Garlington, Jenna Kaiser, Allison Mayfield and Brittany Williams of the Kansas volleyball team will travel to Colorado Springs to tryout for the USA National Volleyball Team Feb. 19-21.

The tryouts are used by the USA National Team to identify talent for its current and future competitions.

“This is a great opportunity for our players to train with high level athletes in a USA volleyball setting at our Olympic training center in Colorado,” said KU volleyball coach Ray Bechard. “I am really excited for our players.”

Mayfield, a sophomore, and Garlington, a junior, were the team’s top hitters during the 2009 season pacing the team with 3.65 kps and 3.31 kps, respectively. Williams played her final season for the Jayhawks in 2009 and recorded the team’s highest attack percentage during conference play. Kaiser played in 23 matches for KU during her junior season in 2009 contributing 1.23 kps.
