KU Quarterback Club To Host Football In February Party

LAWRENCE, Kan. The KU Quarterback Club will host a special event to showcase KU’s 2009 football recruiting class Thursday, February 5, at Zig and Mac’s Bar and Grill (southeast corner of Bob Billings Parkway and Wakarusa). The event is open to the public.

The event includes a free hot dog tailgate (courtesy of Zig and Mac’s) and an introduction of KU’s newest football recruits by Recruiting Coordinator Brandon Blaney and Defensive Coordinator Clint Bowen. Schedule:

3:30 – 6 p.m. – “Rock Chalk – Sports Talk” live from Zig and Mac’s featuring special football guests.

7 p.m. — Social (Free Hot Dog Tailgate compliments of Zig and Mac’s); 2008 Football Highlight Tape will be shown.

7:20 p.m. — Recruiting Coordinator Brandon Blaney and Defensive Coordinator Clint Bowen will discuss KU’s 2009 football class.

7:35 – 8 p.m. — Football Recruiting Class Highlight Tape followed by Q&A with Coach Blaney and Clint Bowen.

Season Tickets

Football season tickets for KU’s 2009 football season tickets are now on sale, and fans ordering tickets online by Saturday, January 31 will save $50 on their order.

Fans can purchase their season tickets online at http://www.kuathletics.com, by calling 800-34-HAWKS, or in-person at the Allen Fieldhouse Ticket Office.

Reserved season tickets cost $300. The Family Plan, which includes two adult and two youth general admission season tickets in Memorial Stadium’s North Bowl, costs $450. In 2008 the Family Plan section sold out before the start of the season.

Kansas Athletics also announced a new season ticket option, the Crimson Zone ticket – a reserved seat in Sections 1 and 2 – for just $225.

Kansas Athletics has also introduced a new Payment Plan Option that gives fans the opportunity to spread out their payments by having Kansas Athletics deduct a set amount from their bank account each month.

Saturday, January 31:

Special Recognition: This Saturday, January 31, the Kansas men’s basketball team will take on the Colorado Buffaloes in Allen Fieldhouse and look to improve their conference record to 6-0. At halftime, members of the Insight Bowl Committee will present the 2008 Insight Bowl championship trophy to Head Coach Mark Mangino and the team and recognize the Jayhawks for their accomplishments in 2008.

Awards Ceremony: Later that evening, Kansas football will hold its annual postseason Awards Ceremony in the Lied Center on campus at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited at no cost. The night will include the 2008 highlight video, comments from Chancellor Robert Hemenway, Director of Athletics Lew Perkins and Head Football Coach Mark Mangino. A number of awards will be presented to members of the football team.

Signing Day Powered by Lynn Electric and Communications: Next Wednesday, February 4, is National Signing Day and head coach Mark Mangino will welcome in a talented class of incoming football players.
