Feb. 3, 2005

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas swimming and diving team will compete in its final dual meet of the 2004-05 season when it hosts Iowa State on Senior Day at 2 p.m., Feb. 5, in Lawrence, Kan. The Jayhawks, 7-5 overall and 0-4 in Big 12 dual meets, will compete in 16 events against the Cyclones, including one and three-meter diving.

“As a team, we are really excited about hosting our last dual meet of the 2004-05 season against Iowa State,” head coach Clark Campbell said. “The Cyclones are much like us in that they have been building momentum since their training trip. They will be tough to beat.”

Saturday’s meet will also serve as the final dual meet for Kansas’ six senior swimmers. Aly Colver, Amy Gruber, Miranda Isaac, Katie Knighton, Jackie Krueger, Becca Zarazan and their parents will be honored prior to the meet at 2 p.m. The Jayhawks will be looking to defeat Iowa State and enter the Big 12 Championships, Feb. 23-26 in College Station, Texas, on the momentum of four consecutive dual meet wins.

“KU Swimming has had the privilege of Aly, Amy, Jackie, Katie, Miranda and Becca being key components of our program for several years,” Campbell added. “We are ready to send the seniors, and the rest of the team, off with a great competition as we head into the Big 12 Championships.”
