LAWRENCE, Kan. – A total of eight new athletes comprise this year’s Kansas track and field signing class, as five will join the team for the 2009-10 season after putting pen to paper on National Signing Day, and three others have already joined the team for this season, head coach Stanley Redwine announced Friday.

Tara Grosserode, Kathryn Lupton, Rebecca Neville and Taylor Washington all signed their letters of intent to run for the women’s team next year, while Michael Flores was the lone men’s signee.

The three Jayhawks already on campus and competing are Brian Bishop, a junior transfer from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, freshman Sasha Cunningham from Clarendon, Jamaica, and freshman Micah Wesley from Topeka, Kan.

Kansas track and field is in action Friday and Saturday in New York, N.Y., and Lincoln, Neb.
