COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Kansas fell 64-57 to the University of Missouri on Saturday afternoon at the Mizzou Sports Arena in Columbia, Mo. The loss dropped KU to 14-8 overall and 3-8 in the Big 12, while the Tigers improved to 17-6 overall and 7-4 in the league.

Senior Erica Hallman drained four three-pointers for a team-high 19 points to lead Kansas, which wore its red road uniforms for the second time this season. Senior Crystal Kemp added 18 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Tigers were paced by senior guard LaToya Bond with 31 points. Senior center Christelle N’Garsanet added 20 points and 12 boards.

The Jayhawks shot 42.9 percent from the field and grabbed 27 rebounds, while MU shot 44.9 percent and snared 34 boards.

After Missouri scored the first basket of the game, the Jayhawks took the lead at the 17:10 mark of the first half on a Hallman trey. KU maintained the lead for the entire first half and led 30-25 at the break.

For the first six minutes of the second half, KU continued to hold a narrow lead. Missouri tied the game at 13:34 and 9:10 in the second stanza, before claiming the lead at the 5:35 mark on an N’Garsanet lay in. Mizzou hit 12 free throws down the stretch – including eight from Bond – to take the victory.

KU freshman Sophronia Sallard and sophomore Jamie Boyd recorded their first starts of the season.

The Border Showdown series now stands at 8.5 to 7.0 in Kansas’ favor.

Kansas will return home for a rematch with the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The game in Allen Fieldhouse will tip off at 7 p.m. and be aired by Sunflower Broadband channel 6. Fans can also listen on the Jayhawk Radio Network.
