Marcus Morris Named Big 12 Player of the Week for Third Time in 2010-11

IRVING, Texas – Kansas junior Marcus Morris was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for the third time this season for his efforts in KU’s two victories last week.

Morris averaged 19.0 points and 9.5 rebounds as Kansas recorded home victories against No. 19 Missouri (103-86) and Iowa State (89-66). The 6-8 Philadelphia, Pa., forward opened the week with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-9 shooting with eight rebounds versus Missouri. It marked his seventh 20-point effort of the season. He followed that performance posting his fifth double-double of 2010-11 with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Iowa State. Morris shot 66.7 percent (14-of-21) from the floor during the week, with five assists and two blocked shots.

Morris leads the Big 12 in field goal shooting at 60.9 percent and has led the Jayhawks in scoring 12 times this year. He leads Kansas with a 16.9 scoring average, including 18.7 points per game in big 12 play Named to both the Naismith and Wooden awards mid-season lists, Morris also earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors Jan. 17 and Nov. 29.
