Kansas Duo Named Charlotte Classic MVP, Pitching MVP

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Junior Maggie Hull and freshman Alicia Pille were selected as the Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Pitcher, respectively, of the Charlotte Classic. As a team, Kansas posted a 4-0 record over the course of Friday and Saturday and was the only remaining undefeated team in the tournament.

Hull, who started all four games for the Jayhawks in left field, batted .438 for the tournament with seven hits and four RBIs. She belted out a team-high two doubles and a triple for a slugging percentage of .688. Additionally, Hull was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts and was perfect defensively with four putouts and two assists.

Pille, who made two starts in the circle for Kansas, led the tournament with a 1.24 ERA. She allowed just nine hits and two runs (both earned) in 11.1 innings. Pille also posted a strikeouts/walks ratio of 17 to 2, another tournament-best. Winning both her starts, including one complete game performance, she held opponents to a .214 batting average.

Kansas will head to North Carolina for the second-straight weekend to play in the Seahawk Classic hosted by UNC Wilmington, Feb. 24-26. The Jayhawks will kickoff the weekend against Fairfield University at 9 a.m. CT.
