Upcoming K Club Events and Sport Reunions Announced

LAWRENCE, Kan. –
K Club is excited to announce a few upcoming events. K Club will be introducing the new Spring Tailgate on April 30, 2011. This new event will be centered around football’s spring scrimmage. K Club members and their guests will tailgate on The Hill prior to the scrimmage, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Adult beverages and food will be included. The HyVee Hawk Zone will also be available on The Hill with games, inflatables and fun activities for the kids. The annual spring scrimmage begins at 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The softball team will also be playing Texas A&M that day, so come support our Jayhawks!
K Club is also proud to announce that the 2011 K Club Weekend will take place during KU’s Homecoming weekend Sept. 30-Oct. 1. After a great turnout last fall, we hope for an even better weekend this year! K Club members can look forward to golf Fri. afternoon starting at 1:30 p.m. at Alvamar, and a social at The Oread Hotel Fri. evening at 7 p.m. The social will include the K Club 25 and 50-year pin ceremony and other programming. The football game time has not been set yet, so please visit the K Club Web site for more information and registration details as they become available.
A few sports will sponsor their own reunions in spring as well. Baseball will hold its reunion April 9. Baseball alums will enjoy a day of activities, including golf and the Kansas versus Nebraska baseball game at 2 p.m. For more information please contact Marcia Bagby at (785) 864-7907.
Track and field and cross country will host their reunion during the Kansas Relays, April 20-23. Aside from the reunion, the Kansas Relays are a great way for all K Club members to show their support for current student-athletes and Kansas Athletics. The Relays bring in over 5,000 high school, collegiate and Olympic-level athletes each spring. For more information contact Milan Donley, meet director, at (785) 864-7971.
The football reunion will take place April 29-30, alongside the football team’s spring scrimmage. Returning football players will enjoy a social held at the Anderson Family Football Complex Fri. evening, and K Club invites all returning football players and their guests to join the K Club Spring Tailgate Sat. on The Hill prior to the scrimmage. The men’s golf reunion will be held May 6-7. Returning golfers are invited to an informal social gathering at The Wheel Fri., May 6. On Sat., May 7, alumni are welcome to play golf at Alvamar and enjoy a social held in the KU Hitting Facility on the Alvamar Range.
