CONWAY, Ark. – Central Arkansas junior Jeffrey Enloe pitched a complete game, recording 10 strikeouts, while his offense scored nine runs in the first four innings in a 9-3 triumph over Kansas Saturday afternoon at Bear Stadium.

The Bears improve to 5-1 on the year, with their only loss coming to No. 4 Vanderbilt, while Kansas drops to 3-3.

Kansas jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but it was short-lived. The home team answered with three runs in the second inning and four runs in the third to send sophomore pitcher Wes Benjamin to an early exit. After a bases loaded walk in the third inning pushed the UCA advantage to 4-2, Tyler Langley delivered the big blow with a two-run double down the right field line to extend the lead to four runs. Forrestt Allday then hit a sacrifice fly to left field to cap the four-run inning.

After Kansas fought back with a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Ka’iana Eldredge, the Bears answered with two more runs against relief pitcher Tanner Poppe.

UCA starting pitcher Jeffrey Enloe tossed his first complete game of the season, allowing three runs on 10 hits with a walk and 10 strikeouts. The 10 Jayhawk strikeouts were a season high.

Junior Tucker Tharp and sophomore Justin Protacio paced the Jayhawk offense with two hits each.

The Jayhawks will play their second game of the day at 5 p.m., against Jackson State.
