Swimming and Diving in Fourth After Big 12 Championship Day Two

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Kansas swimming and diving team is in fourth place after two days of competition at the Big 12 Conference Swimming and Diving Championships in College Station, Texas. The Jayhawks have recorded 166 team points and trail third-place Nebraska by 14 points. Texas is currently in first place with 300 team points followed by Texas A&M in second with 250 points.

Senior Amy Gruber provided the highlight of the day for the Jayhawks, as the the senior co-captain finished second in the 50 freestyle with a Kansas season-best time of 22.92. Junior Gina Gnatzig also set a Kansas season-best time as she finished in sixth place overall in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:51.31. Gnatzig also teamed with senior Miranda Isaac, junior Lindsey Urbatchka and sophomore Jenny Short to finish fourth in the 400 medley relay in a time of 3:47.21. On the three-meter diving board, sophomore Shelby Noonan was the top Jayhawk diver as she finished in fifth place with a score of 430.90.

The Jayhawks will compete in the third day of the Big 12 Championships, Friday, starting with the morning preliminary events at 10 a.m. in College Station, Texas.
