Jake Marasco recorded three hits and made two sparkling plays in the field, while Wally Marciel tossed seven shutout innings as Kansas evened its record with a 2-1 triumph over Southern Utah in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

Kansas scored single runs in each of the first two innings and then held on. Marciel allowed just three hits over seven innings with five walks and five strikeouts in the longest outing of his career.
