Rising freshman Sara Rogers notched the matches first goal to give KU a 1-0 lead in the first half. Rising junior Lacey Novak was credited with the assist.

A miss judged goal kick allowed the Gophers to tie the match late in the second half. The two teams played a scoreless second half.

“We played really well in the first half,” head coach Mark Francis said. “We weren’t moving the ball as much in the second half. We might have run out of gas since we were playing with just one sub. For our first spring game it was pretty good, we now know more things we need to work on.”

Rising sophomore goalkeeper Colleen Quinn played the first 45 minutes while rising freshman Julie Hanley finished the match in goal, playing the final 45 minutes.

KU’s next match will be April 1 against Yale in Omaha, Neb. Match time is set for 3 p.m. at Morrison Stadium on the campus of Creighton University.
