Field Set For 2012 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Following its win at Oklahoma Sunday afternoon, the Kansas women’s basketball team secured the No. 6 seed for the 2012 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women’s Basketball Championship. The tournament runs Wednesday-Saturday, March 7-10 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The Jayhawks earned a first-round bye and will take on third-seeded Texas A&M in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Kansas (19-11, 8-10 Big 12) earned its highest seeding under head coach Bonnie Henrickson and best since getting a No. 4 seed in 2000. The tiebreaker procedure was necessary to determine KU’s seed after finishing the regular season in a tie for seventh place with Oklahoma State and Texas. In a comparison of collective head-to-head records among those three teams, Kansas was 3-1, followed by Oklahoma State at 2-2 and Texas at 1-3.

All-session tickets for the Big 12 Championship are $90 for lower-level seating and $70 for upper level. Single-session tickets are also on sale for $20 lower level and $15 upper level. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000 or at the Municipal Auditorium Box Office.

First round games will be televised by Metro Sports in Kansas City while the quarterfinals through the final will be aired on FSN.
