<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>LAWRENCE, Kan. – Coming off a thrilling victory over rival KansasState on Wednesday, the University of Kansas will return home to take on 46th-ranked New Mexico on Sunday at First Serve.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

The dual between the 4-5 Jayhawks and the 5-4 Lobos is set to begin at 11 a.m. at First Serve.

KU is riding momentum after opening its conference season with an impressive 4-3 win against the 67th-ranked Wildcats. With the dual knotted at three, senior Lauren Hommell came back after losing the first set of her No. 6 match to defeat KSU’s Olga Klimova, sending her squad to its first win against a ranked opponent since the 2006-07 season.

The Jayhawks, after losing the doubles point, got singles victories from senior Elizaveta Avdeeva and juniors Edina Horvath and Yuliana Svistun to go along with Hommell’s match-clinching win. Horvath’s victory improved the Budapest, Hungary, native’s dual match singles record to a team-leading 7-2.

New Mexico enters the matchup winners of two straight. The Lobos own wins over No. 59 Boise State on Feb. 29 and a victory over Big 12 foe Colorado on Jan. 19, among others. Prior to taking on Kansas, UNM will face K-State in Manhattan on Saturday.

Sunday marks Kansas’ first appearance at home since its Feb. 16 shutout of UMKC. New Mexico joins Iowa as the only non-conference opponents left on KU’s schedule this season.
