Kansas Head Coach Ritch Price

on the Kansas pitching…

“I was pleased with our pitching. I thought Shaeffer (Hall) did a nice job of mixing his pitches and using his change-up to be effective. I thought our bullpen was good, it was good to see (Paul) Smyth go out and have a good outing. I thought that was the best he’d thrown since we started our season.”

on the NDSU pitching…

“Their staff is doing a nice job. That kid (Matt Bowar) is obviously an `undethe radar gun guy’, but he threw his change-up real well. He did a really nice job of using what he could do to be effective and he kept us off-balance for about five innings.”

on KU’s hitting…

“That’s going to happen in our league. You’re going to get very few opportunities to score and when you do you have to take advantage if your opponent gives you an extra out in the inning. I was pleased with the fact that a couple of our guys that are impact guys punched up late in the game for us because that’s what it’s going to take. Our players that are supposed to carry this club have got to get it done when the game’s on the line.”
