IOWA CITY, Iowa – The first day of completion at the NCAA Zone ‘D’ Diving Championships has come and gone and Kansas divers Christy Cash and Alyssa Golden are looking toward day two with confidence. Cash and Golden finished 30th and 35th in one meter competition with their scores of 228.50 and 211.65 respectively.

“They dove great and had a lot of positive energy,” KU diving Coach Eric Elliott explained. “Alyssa was relaxed and put some dives down really well and Christy did pretty much every dive as well.”

For Cash, this is her second NCAA Zone’s as she also finished 30th in the one meter last year. Her score in the event this season was a little more than three points higher than her performance during 2011 in Austin, Texas. Golden, a sophomore from Portage, Mich., is competing at Zones for the first time during her collegiate career.

Diving action continues tomorrow in Iowa City with the three meter, as Cash and Golden will both take part in preliminaries, starting at 11 a.m. Finals will begin later in the evening. Log onto kuathletics.com for results, recaps and interviews following day two.
