Kansas Men's Basketball Honored on USBWA All-District Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. –

Kansas basketball junior Sherron Collins and sophomore Cole Aldrich were named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) 2008-09 All-District VI Team, while KU head coach Bill Self was selected Coach of the Year, it was announced Tuesday.

There are nine regions from coast to coast. A player and coach of the year are selected in each region based on voting from the USBWA’s national membership. Click here to see the entire region-by-region listing.

The USBWA also names an All-America Team, the Henry Iba Award (National Coach of the Year) and the Oscar Robertson Trophy (National Player of the Year).

The winners of the Henry Iba Award and Oscar Robertson Trophy will be honored at the USBWA’s annual awards breakfast on Friday, April 3, at the downtown Detroit Athletic Club in conjunction with the Men’s Final Four. The breakfast will also honor the winner of the Henry Iba Award, the association’s coach of the year, as well as the 1979 Michigan State national championship team that was led by Earvin “Magic” Johnson.
