March 18, 2011

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas softball coach Megan Smith joined residents at Drury Place at Alvamar retirement community earlier this week to speak with them about KU softball.

Coach Smith spoke about her journey from team captain of the University of North Carolina softball team to assistant coach at LSU before becoming the head coach at Kansas in June 2009. She also shared the positive outlook for Jayhawk softball, which is currently 21-3 and off to their best start in program history.

Marilyn Stevens, activities director at Drury Place, was thrilled to have Coach Smith visit.

“Many of our residents are loyal KU fans and they all spoke about how much they enjoyed learning more about Coach Smith and the KU softball program,” Stevens said. “Her team will have a lot of new fans cheering her on from Drury Place now.”
