Kansas Golf in Sixth After Day One in Arizona
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Two top-20 performances by Jayhawk golfers helped the Kansas men’s golf team shoot a 282 Thursday to finish in sixth place after day one at the 2009 Desert Shootout.
Blake Giroux and Ian Anson led the way for the Jayhawks as both golfers finished the day tied for 16th place individually with rounds of 69. Rounding out the lineup for Kansas were Nate Barbee (70, t22), Bryan Hackenberg (74, t57) and Walt Koelbel (76, t74).
Denver finished the day atop the team standings after shooting a 271. Tom Whitney of Airforce and Nicolas Geyer of Tulsa tied for first individually with rounds of 64.
