Jayhawks Shutout at Oklahoma State In Conference Opener

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Senior Dougie McCaulley and sophomore Liz Kocon tallied Kansas softball’s only hits in the Jayhawks’ 2-0 loss to Oklahoma State Saturday evening in KU’s Big 12 Conference opener.

With the loss, Kansas fell to 10-15 overall, while OSU improved its record to 24-6 behind Anna Whiddon’s complete game, shutout victory.

The Cowgirls took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly and then plated its second run of the game with a leadoff home run in the sixth inning.

Kansas put several runners in scoring position, including a runner on third in the fifth and sixth innings, but was unable to capitalize from the batter’s box. McCaulley and Kocon each tallied a double for KU, the Jayhawks’ only hits of the game.

Senior Val George suffered the loss from the circle giving up six hits and one walk, while fanning seven batters. She fell to 7-8 on the season.
