CLEMSON, S.C. – Kansas knew going into the dual with Clemson that it was going to be a tough task and the nationally-ranked Tiger rowing team proved to be too strong, as Clemson swept the Kansas rowing team on Saturday.

The Jayhawks best finish came in the novice eight race as KU’s first novice eight came in second with a time of 7:09.99. The first novice eight boat consisted of Jade Lambkins, Claudijah Lever, Kaylee Sextro, Jenni Hartzler, Brooke Thuston, Andrea Joyce, Nicole Otey, Allie Griffin and coxswain Sarah Lasini.

KU struggled in the varsity races as Clemson won the first varsity eight and second varsity eight races by at least 18 seconds in each. In the varsity four race, Clemson finished in the top four while KU’s best finish was fifth.

Having faced several of the NCAA’s top teams in the last two weeks, KU will look to use that strong schedule to their advantage over the remainder of the season.

KU will have a week off following Clemson to prepare for the Kansas Cup showdown with in-state rival Kansas State on April 7. The regatta with Kansas State will be the lone home meet for KU in 2012 at Wyandotte County Lake.
