Kansas Falls to No. 25 Oklahoma State, 6-1

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 74-ranked Kansas dropped to 0-2 in Big 12 play on Wednesday, falling to No. 25 Oklahoma State, 6-1, at DeBois Tennis Complex.

Oklahoma State swept all three doubles matches before taking five of six in singles to seal the victory. The Cowgirls are now 10-3 in dual play this season and 2-1 in conference play.

The lone victory for the Jayhawks came from No. 1 singles player Maria Jose Cardona. The freshman from Santiago, Chile, defeated No. 60-ranked Malika Rose in a third-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8), only a day after Rose earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors.

Kansas returns to action Saturday when it faces Kansas State in this season’s chapter of the Sunflower Showdown. Competition is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Jayhawk Tennis Center and the event is free and open to the public.
