ATHENS, Ga. – After two consecutive days of cancelled rounds due to inclement weather, Kansas women’s golf was finally able to step onto the UGA Golf Course Sunday to complete the final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. In the first and only round of the rain-shortened event, the Jayhawks shot a 327 to finish in 18th place.

Emily Powers shot a five-over-par 77 to lead the way for the Jayhawks. The junior from Quincy, Ill. tied for 30th place in the individual standings. Rounding out the lineup for KU were sophomores Meghna Bal (83, t79), Grace Thiry (83, t79) and Sydney Wilson (84, t85) and junior Meghan Gockel (84, t85).

Auburn, who is ranked seventh in the golfweek.com collegiate rankings, won the tournament after shooting a 299 on Sunday. Taking the individual honors was Kathleen Ekey of Alabama, who shot a three-under-par 69.

The Jayhawks return to action April 5-6 when they travel to Norman, Okla., to compete in the Maxwell Berning Classic. Check back to kuathletics.com for complete coverage of the team’s spring season.
