Jayhawks Remain in 16th Place After Two Rounds at Western Intercollegiate

Seniors Walt Koelbel and Andrew Storm led the Kansas Men’s Golf team for a second straight day as the Jayhawks remained in 16th place after two rounds at the Western Intercollegiate.

“The greens are real tough here and the wind was up today, but we just didn’t play well again today,” said head coach Kit Grove.

Both Koelbel and Storm carded 76’s to jump a few spots up on the individual leaderboard. Koelbel enters the final round tied for 22nd place, while Storm is tied for 27th place.

Junior Bryan Hackenberg carded two birdies and improved on his first round performance by one stroke to shot a 79 and is tied for 75th place. Freshmen Ian Anson and Blake Giroux are tied for 91st place after two rounds with a score of 170.

Fresno State held onto its first round lead and enters the final round with a four stroke advantage over Oregon. Diego Velasquez of Oregon State is atop the individual leaderboard after firing a second round 66.

The final round of the Western Intercollegiate will be conducted March 31 and live scoring will once again be available at golfstat.com
