Leading Off
The University of Kansas (20-11, 4-5 Big 12) will host Texas Tech University (22-11, 4-4 Big 12) in a Big 12 series this weekend. Friday’s series opener will begin at 6 p.m. at Hoglund Ballpark. The two teams will also play Saturday at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

A Look at Texas Tech
The Red Raiders enter the series 22-11 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech has played all Texas schools in its first three Big 12 series. TTU split a rain shortened series against Texas before taking one of three games against Texas A&M and two or three against Baylor in Lubbuck last weekend. In its two victories over the Bears, the Red Raiders scored 28 times.
TTU’s ace Miles Morgan leads the Big 12 with 75 strikeouts. In Big 12 games this season, the Red Raider pitching staff has compiled a 3.16 ERA while holding its opponents to a .198 batting average. A freshman and senior lead the Raider offense. Frosh Roger Kieschnick is hitting a point below .400 while driving in a Big 12 best 40 runs. Senior Brian Capps is hitting .392 with a .453 on-base percentage.

The `Don’ of Records
With his next appearance, senior Don Czyz will tie the Big 12 record for career appearances. The record of 111 appearances is held by former Baylor Bear Zane Smith (2000-04). Czyz is also one save away from tying Jimmy Walker’s school record (11) for most saves in a single season.
