Kansas City's Muna Lee Will Run at 2009 Relays

LAWRENCE, Kan. — Muna Lee, a native of Kansas City, Mo., is slated to return to the area and compete at the 2009 Kansas Relays in the invitational 200 meters. Lee, the 2008 Olympic Trials 100 meters champion and 200 meters runner-up, was the 2006 Kansas Relays champion in the invitational 100 meters. She is currently a member of the Nike club team as well as the USA Track & Field squad.

Lee owns a personal best of 22.01 in the 200 meters, which is .58 better than the Relays record in the event. A 2004 graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU), Lee has been a 2005 World Outdoor 4X100-meter relay gold medalist, the 2005 USA Outdoor 100 meters silver medalist, the 2004 Olympic Trials 200 meter runner-up, the 2005 U.S. Indoor Runner-up, a two-time NCAA Indoor 60 meters champion (2003, 2004), the 2003 NCAA Indoor 200 meters champion and a two-time NCAA Outdoor 100 meters and 200 meters runner-up (2003, 2004).

Lee was impressive in winning the 100 meters at the 2008 Olympic Trials, running a personal best 10.85. It was her first national title. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, Lee placed fourth in the 100 meters and fifth in the 200 meters.

Lee joins American record holder Alan Webb (mile) on the list of announced professional athletes at this year’s Relays.

The women’s invitational 200 meters at the Kansas Relays will take place Saturday, April 18 at Memorial Stadium.
