Kansas Tennis Falls to No. 42 Baylor, 5-2

WACO, Texas – Kansas fell to 0-4 in conference play Friday, dropping its dual match to No. 42 Baylor, 5-2, at Hurd Tennis Center.

The Bears swept the Jayhawks in doubles play, winning the No. 1 and 3 matches before leaving the No. 2 match unfinished after they clinched the doubles point. The only individual victories notched by KU were in the No. 2 and No. 5 singles matches, both of which were retired by Baylor players.

At the No. 2 spot, sophomore Maria Belen Ludueña defeated No. 120-ranked Victoria Kisialeva, 4-6, 3-1, ret., giving the Jayhawks their second singles victory over a nationally ranked opponent this season. On court 5, KU freshman Nastya Trubica beat BU’s Maria Biryukova, 6-3, 3-3, ret.

Kansas moves to an overall record of 8-7 this season with Friday’s loss. It will next travel to Fort Worth, Texas, for a date Sunday with No. 35-ranked TCU at 10 a.m.
