Kansas Football To Hold Spring Game Saturday, April 11

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas football will hold its annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 11. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Kivisto Field at Memorial Stadium. There will be no admission charge to the game. Concession stands will be open during the game.

Upon entry to Memorial Stadium, fans will receive an official 2009 Jayhawk schedule magnet and schedule card (while supplies last). Gates to the stadium will open at 1 p.m. and admission is free.

Fans will be asked to enter and sit on the west side of the stadium. All parking lots on the west side of the stadium will be open as well as lot 94 on the east side. Lot 91 will be reserved for the helmet fair and bike rodeo.

The annual Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Helmet Fair and Bike Rodeo will take place in conjunction with the game. From 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. kids can participate in the Helmet Fair and Bike Rodeo in parking lot 91, located Southeast of Memorial Stadium between Spencer Museum and the new practice fields.

The helmet fair will feature a bicycle rodeo course, safety course and free bike inspections. In addition, kids 15 and younger will be custom-fitted with a free bicycle helmet (while supplies last) as they learn about bicycle rules of the road, trail etiquette and pool safety. A fun zone featuring inflatable interactive games will also be present in Lot 91.

A radio broadcast of the game will be available at KUathletics.com, as well as on the 33-station Jayhawk Radio Network. Fans can visit kuathletics.com for a list of affiliates. Metro Sports TV in Kansas City and Kansas 22 will be televising the game throughout the state of Kansas (check local listings for availability).

KU will begin the 2009 campaign on September 5 vs. Northern Colorado. The Jayhawks will also host non-conference opponents Duke (September 19) and Southern Mississippi (September 26, Band Day, Family Day), before Big 12 rivals Iowa State (Oct. 10, Homecoming), Oklahoma (Oct. 24) and Nebraska (Nov. 14) visit Lawrence.

Season tickets for the six-game home schedule are now on sale for $300. The Perkins Restaurant Family Plan, which includes two youth and two adult general admission tickets, is $450, and the New Crimson Zone – a reserved seat in Section 1 or 2 – is available for just $225.
