Kansas Spring Football Game Moved To Monday at 7 p.m.

LAWRENCE, Kan. – With the anticipation of inclement weather in Lawrence on Saturday, the Kansas spring football game sponsored by People’s Bank has been moved to Monday at 7 p.m. Admission to the game is free.

Upon entry, fans in will receive an official 2008 Jayhawk Football T-shirt, a 2008 Football poster, and a commemorative Orange Bowl team photo card (while supplies last). A Family Fun Zone will be open on the west side of the stadium in lot 65 from 4-7 p.m. Gates to the stadium will open at 6 p.m.

Fans will be asked to enter and sit on the west side of the stadium. All parking lots on the west side of the stadium will be open as well as lot 91 and 94 on the east side.

Concession stands will be open during the game and players will be available for autographs after the contest.

Metro Sports and KLWN radio will broadcast during the game.

At halftime, KU head coach Mark Mangino will be presented with a national coach of the year trophy by Tom Dienhart of The Sporting News.

The Jayhawks were 12-1 en route to winning the FedEx Orange Bowl and finishing the year ranked seventh in the country last season. KU returns 42 lettermen, including 16 starters from that group. Among the returnees are record-setting quarterback Todd Reesing and All-Big 12 First-Team linebacker Joe Mortensen.

Kansas led the country in turnover margin a year ago, while also ranking in the top 10 in the nation in scoring offense, total offense, scoring defense, rushing defense and kickoff returns.

KU will begin the 2008 campaign at home against Florida International on August 30. The Jayhawks will host non-conference foes Louisiana Tech (Sept. 6) and SamHoustonState (Sept. 20) before Big 12 rivals Colorado (Oct. 11) Texas Tech (Oct. 25), Kansas State (Nov. 1) and Texas (Nov. 15) visit Lawrence.

Season tickets for the seven-game home schedule are on sale now for $300. The Perkins Restaurants family plan, which includes two youth and two adult general admission tickets, is $400.
