LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas’ men’s golf signed the top-ranked junior college prospect in the country on Thursday. Paul Harris, a sophomore at Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City, Ala., is the No. 1 junior college prospect according to golfstat.com.

Harris has accomplished a number of impressive feats over the past few years. Among his achievements are setting the course record at Limestone Springs in Oneonta, Ala., shooting a 60 in June, 2008. Additionally, he took 16th place at the 2010 Alabama State Amateur tournament and placed 15th in the Future Masters tournament in 2009.

In 2009 and 2010, Harris earned all-tournament honors on four separate occasions. He earned the honor in both years at the Wallace State Invitational, in 2010 at the Jim Redgate Invitational where he also earned low medalist honors, and at the MGCCCC Fall Invitational in 2010.

“This is an exciting day for KU Golf, to sign the number one junior college player in the country,” Kansas head coach Kit Grove said. “Paul is an extremely talented player and we expect him to have an immediate impact at KU. Not only is he a great player, but he’s also an excellent person who will be a great addition to our university.”

“I am very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to attend KU and play golf in the Big 12 conference,” Harris said. “KU has the best staff, campus, and coaches I have seen. I am really looking forward to being a part of this great unviersity.”
