Jayhawks Conclude Regular Season at Aggie Invitational

April 16, 2009

BRYAN, Texas –

The Kansas Men’s Golf team will conclude its regular season April 18-19 at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Golf Course (par-72, 7,235 yards).

The event, hosted by Texas A&M, features the unique setup of each team starting six players and counting five scores towards the team score.

“This will be a real strong test for us going into the Big 12 Championship on a tough course with a very good field,” said head coach Kit Grove.

The Jayhawks lineup will feature seniors Walt Koelbel, Andrew Storm and Zach Pederson, juniors Bryan Hackenberg and Bobby Knowles, and sophomore Nate Barbee.

Koelbel, who has competed in all nine events this year, will look to continue his strong spring campaign that has featured a pair of top-20 finishes including a tied for 19th place finish in the Jayhawks’ last event at the River Landing Intercollegiate.

Barbee will return to the lineup after a two-event hiatus and Barbee leads the team in scoring average at 72.30 strokes per round.

The 12-team field features five Big 12 participants in Kansas, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Texas A&M. The field will play 36 holes on April 18, followed by the final round on April 19.

Live scoring will be provided at golfstat.com throughout the event. Check back to kuathletics.com for a complete recap and results of the Aggie Invitational.
