LAWRENCE, Kan. –

On Sunday, April 25, Kansas tennis senior Kunigunda Dorn will suit up for the last time as a Jayhawk in the regular season. The Kansas tennis team and coaches will honor Dorn and her success as Jayhawk at 11 a.m. before it hosts No. 2 Baylor at the Jayhawk Tennis Facility. Admissions to the event are free.

KU is led by sophomores Ekaterina Morozova and Erin Wilbert at the No. 1 doubles position. The duo enters the match with a 6-4 record, including three victories in the last four matches. As a team, the Jayhawks hold a 9-13 record overall, including a 1-9 mark in Big 12 play.

The Baylor Bears come into the match with a 50-match winning streak against Big 12 teams and hold a 22-2 overall record. BU boasts one nationally-ranked doubles team and four nationally-ranked singles players. Leading the Bears is No. 5 Lenka Broosova, who is 11-1 in the last 12 matches and undefeated in Big 12 play. In addition, Baylor is led by No. 18 Nina Secerbegovic, No. 61 Taylor Ormond and No. 99 Csilla Borsanyi. Broosova and Borsanyi also team together to form the nation’s 10th-best doubles team.

In her four years as a Jayhawk, Dorn was named Kansas’ most improved player as a sophomore and the team’s hardest worker as a junior. Dorn has played steadily at the No. 4 spot in singles play and No. 2 in doubles.

In looking back on her years at KU, Dorn feels especially lucky to have had such a strong bond with her teammates.

“My favorite memories are the times we rallied together as a team,” said Dorn. “The support of our team has been the best part. We come out and play with a lot of emotion for every match.”

While Dorn has been a valuable asset to her team, she has also shown that her work off the court is just as important with her three consecutive Academic All-Big 12 honors.

“I came to America to play tennis, but also to get an education,” said Dorn, a Sopron, Hungary native. “I’ve always cared about my grades and I am happy to have had the opportunity.”

The Jayhawks will jump right into post-season play when they travel to Austin, Texas on April 29, 2010 for the Big 12 Championships. The time of the match has not yet been determined.
