Position Title: Media Assistant (1 – 2 positions)
Starting Date: July, 2005
Appointment: 10 month
Salary: $1000.00 per month stipend plus overtime
Duties: Assistants will be involved in all aspects of publicizing the University of Kansas’ 18-sport intercollegiate program. Specific sports include — soccer, baseball, cross country, indoor/outdoor track & field and/or the KU Relays. Duties include writing press releases, press guides, game programs and feature articles; coordinating all media activities for assigned sports; working with local, regional and national media; compiling statistics and reporting results to media; assisting in all phases of publicity for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelors degree in journalism or related field, previous work experience in media relations office and/or related field. Must have proven written and oral communications skills. Ability to write, edit and produce press releases and press guides. Knowledge and experience with personal computers.
Preferred: Knowledge and experience with Automated Scorebook, QuarkXpress and Adobe PhotoShop software helpful.
