Kansas Soccer Drops Exhibition Match, 2-1

April 28, 2005

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The University of Kansas soccer team fell to the Blue Valley All-Stars U-15 boy’s team by a score of 2-1 on Thursday in an exhibition match at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

The Jayhawks tied the game up at 1-1 in the first period, as freshman defender Afton Sauer scored on a header off a cross from sophomore midfielder Nicole Cauzillo. The Blue Valley All-Stars, however, were able to tally a second half goal to seal the victory.

“I thought that we played well,” said Kansas head coach Mark Francis. “This game was the best that we have played so far this spring. They were fast and controlled the ball well and that is one of the reason that you play boys teams, to get used to playing the game at that speed.”

Kansas soccer will round out its spring exhibition season on May 5 as it hosts the KCFC U-15 club team at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex in a 6 p.m. match-up.
