Kansas to Face UCLA in Big 12 / Pac 10 Hardwood Series

April 28, 2009

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Big 12 and Pac-10 Conferences announced the dates and matchups for the 2009 Big 12 / Pac-10 Hardwood Series Monday evening. Kansas will face UCLA at Pauly Pavilion in Los Angeles on Sunday, December 6.

It will be the first matchup between the Jayhawks and Bruins since UCLA defeated Kansas 68-55 in the 2007 Elite Eight in San Jose, Calif. UCLA holds a 10-4 all-time advantage, but KU has won four of the past six matchups. The last time that Kansas travelled to Pauly Pavilion was in 2002, when UCLA won 87—77.

The 2009 Hardwood Series matchups are new after two straight seasons with the same home-and-away meetings. In 2010 the contests will be return games from this year’s games, including a UCLA trip to Allen Fieldhouse to face KU.

The series will be in its third year after starting competition during the 2007-08 season. Last season, the two leagues split the Hardwood Series outings, 6-6. In all games played between the two conferences during 2008-09, the Big 12 held a 10-7 edge. The Pac-10 holds a 13-11 advantage in the first two years of the Hardwood Series.

Additional components of the KU-UCLA game and other Big-12 / Pac-10 matchups, including the start times and television broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
