Arkansas Twilight Cancelled Due to Weather

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Due to inclement weather, Friday’s Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville, Ark., has been cut short, and the meet will not be rescheduled. Before the cancellation, however, a few Kansas track & field athletes were able to complete their respective events.

The Jayhawk women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Nickesha Anderson, Kendra Bradley, Aubree Dorsey and Victoria Howard won the final event of the day, running a season-best time of 45.76 to defeat Iowa State (46.19) for the title.

Zlata Tarasova improved upon her regional-qualifying mark in the hammer throw with a toss of 55.77 meters (183-00 ft.), good for a fifth-place finish.

Stephanie Horton placed second in the women’s discus, recording a throw of 41.69 meters (136-09 ft.). Brian Bishop also placed second in the men’s discus with another regional mark of 51.92 meters (170-04 ft.).

In the men’s pole vault, Kirk Cooper placed third with a jump of 4.90 meters (16-00.75 feet). Teammate Ryan Hays was right behind in fourth place with a vault of 4.75 meters (15-07.00 ft.)

Kansas is not currently scheduled to compete in any more meets before the 2009 Big 12 Outdoor Championships May 15-17 in Lubbock, Texas. The Jayhawk women placed fourth last season at the Big 12 Championships, while the KU men finished ninth.
