Stanton Named Chik-Fil-A Community of Champions Recipient

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Kansas softball sophomore Ally Stanton has been named the Chik-Fil-A Community of Champions recipient for the week of May 5 it was announced Monday.

Stanton, a St. Louis, Mo., native plays outfield for the KU softball team and is a journalism major with a 3.41 GPA. She has been involved with several activities throughout the Lawrence community including KU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Adopt-a-Haskell Rascal, Hawks, Cops and Kids and Fun and Fitness with the Jayhawks.

The Big 12 Conference, in conjunction with Chick-fil-A recognizes numerous student-athletes during the academic year with the Community of Champions program. In order to be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must meet have a 3.0 grade-point average or higher, involved with at least one campus community service program and demonstrate leadership and sportsmanship on and off the field.
