The Jayhawks competed at Rich Harvest Farms in their opening tournament of the year finishing in fifth place out of 12 teams. Senior Gary Woodland and senior Tyler Docking both recorded top-20 finishes at the event.

“We are obviously really excited to be invited to compete,” said head coach Ross Randall. “We were afraid that we might not make it after our finish at the Big 12 Championship, but we are now looking forward to redeeming ourselves at regionals.”

Gary Woodland competed in the NCAA Regional last year as an individual and tied for 75th. The team did not qualify last year breaking an eight-year run of qualifying.

There will be nine other Big 12 teams competing in the NCAA Central Regional. The Jayhawks enter the tournament ranked 20th out of the 27 teams competing in the event.

Ten teams and the top two individuals for each region will advance to compete in the championship final. The championship will be conducted on May 30-June 2 at the Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va.
