KU Defeats #19 Baylor, 5-1, Advances to Face Missouri

OKLAHOMA CITY –

Kansas softball used nine hits, including home runs from Serena Settlemier and Stevie Crisosto, to upset third-seeded Baylor, 5-1, Thursday afternoon in its first game of the 2006 Big 12 Championship at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium. The No. 6 Jayhawks (31-24) will move on to face Border Showdown rival Missouri, the No. 7 seed, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night.

KU’s upset of the Lady Bears (36-19) marked the third upset of the top three seeded teams. No. 8 Oklahoma State upset No. 1 Texas and the No. 7 Tigers knocked off No. 2 Nebraska Wednesday night in double-elimination play.
