Ellrich Selected Academic All-District 7

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas sophomore Justin Ellrich has been selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 7 First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Ellrich, a chemical engineering major with a 3.96 GPA, has played in 32 games for the Jayhawks this season and has a .236 batting average with seven doubles and six RBIs. Ellrich drove in a pair of runs in the 11th inning of KU’s extra-inning thriller at Texas A&M this season.

He also went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in KU’s win over Oklahoma State on March 24. The 6-foot-0 sophomore is batting .409 in games played at Hoglund Ballpark.

With his academic all-district selection, Ellrich is eligible for Academic All-America consideration. Voting for the All-America team takes place next week.

Ellrich and the Jayhawks will play host to Chicago State in a four-game series, beginning Friday at 7 p.m. at Hoglund Ballpark.
