KU senior Amanda Costner also participated in the event and did not advance after shooting an 85 at Blue Hills CC.

This marks the third straight year KU women’s golfers have had success just after the KU spring season. Previously, Giangrosso and Coster were region qualifiers for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship in 2005 and 2006. Additionally, Costner qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur in 2005.

KU head coach Erin O’Neil said Costner, who won the Big 12 Conference individual title in April, has received an exemption allowing her to compete in the Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Championship, May 18-20, at Leawood South Country Club in Leawood, Kan., as part of the Duramed Futures Tour. Costner will participate as an amateur in the event that will benefit the National Kidney Foundation.
