Follow Settlemier's Success in the Pros

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Less than two weeks after walking down Campanile Hill, former Jayhawk Serena Settlemier (Kelso, Wash.) starred in her first National Pro Fastpitch game as a member of the Texas Thunder on June 2. Settlemier posted two hits, including a home run, and pitched five innings to lead the Thunder to a 4-3, eight-inning win.

The Thunder’s regular season runs from June 2 to Aug. 19. The team plays all home games at the Big League Dreams Sports Complex in League City Texas, just 25 minutes south of Houston. For more information or to follow Serena’s rookie season, click here.

Settlemier was named the 2006 Big 12 Player of the Year after an outstanding senior campaign in the circle and batter’s box. In her senior season, Settlemier led the conference in home runs (22), RBI (61) and slugging percentage (.771). She led the KU offense with a .326 batting average and blasted six grand slams. On the rubber, Settlemier went 17-7 and posted a 1.44 ERA to rank third in the Big 12 and second on the team. She lowered her ERA to 0.83 against conference opponents and ranked third in the league in opponent batting average at .166.
