Zagurski Selected in the 12th Round of the MLB Draft

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas senior left-handed pitcher Mike Zagurski has been drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 12th round of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.

Zagurski, a Omaha, Neb., native was selected as the 367th overall pick of the draft after compiling an 8-5 record and a 4.95 ERA for the Jayhawks in 2005. The lefty also became KU’s all-time single season strikeout king as he fanned 112 batters during the season, breaking Roger Slagle’s record of 111 strikeouts during the 1976 season.

The MLB Draft will continue on Wednesday with rounds 19-50 beginning at Noon.
