LAWRENCE, Kan. –

The Kansas soccer team hosted its annual Weekicks and Day camps for youth soccer players this week at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex. Over 110 kids between grades kindergarten through eighth grade participated as current Jayhawk players and coaches taught the fundamentals of the beautiful game.

Boys and girls from all over the area attended camp this week, which focuses on teaching the basics of the game. Different stations in the morning session emphasized the importance of passing, team defense as well as goalkeeping.

This week’s camps continue through Friday. KU’s next camp sessions are in mid-July with the Residential and Team Camps, running July 17-20 and July 22-25 for girls entering grades 4-12.
