Softball Signee Blair Named Houston Area Player of the Year

June 18, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. –

Kansas softball signee Sarah Blair was named the Houston Chronicle’s Player of the Year after helping Katy Taylor High School to the 5A Region III semifinals.

A versatile threat on the diamond, Blair was one of the most feared pitchers and hitters in the Houston area in her senior campaign at Katy Taylor. The soon-to-be Kansas Jayhawk was 15-8 in the circle pitching 161 innings, striking out 149 and walking only six. She was also the team’s best offensive player, hitting .438.

In 2008, the two-time team MVP was a unanimous district most valuable pitcher and selected to the TGCA Texas All-Star Team.

Blair will join KU for the 2008-09 season along with fellow signees Marissa Ingle (Olathe, Kan.) and Kelsey Alsdorf (Littleton, Colo.).
