June 18, 2010

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Former Kansas golfer Gary Woodland shot a 76 for the second straight round of the United States Open Golf Championship to miss the cut Friday. He finished the two days 10 over par.

Woodland, who opened the tournament with a five-over par 76 on Thursday, opened his second round on the back nine Friday. He recorded two birdies and one par on the front nine to move to four over par through 27 holes of the tournament.

Woodland, a Topeka native, who graduated from Kansas in 2007, stayed at four over par for his first 11 holes until making bogey on two of his next three holes. He carded a birdie on the sixth hole and a par on seven before making an eight on the eighth hole, his 17th hole of the day.

He finished his round with a final-hole par finish 10 over par. Last year Woodland tied for 47th in the U.S. Open at Bethpage.
