Kansas Women's Golfers Post Solid Finishes In Summer Play

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas golfer Jennifer Clark recently finished second at the Kansas City Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament, while teammate Sydney Wilson placed fourth at the Collegiate Players Tour/Lagoon Park Collegiate Open.

Clark, a sophomore-to-be from Kansas City, Kan. competed in the Kansas City event, which took place at Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, June 28-29. She shot rounds of 78 and 75 for a 153 total, just two shots behind champion Michelle Regan of Prairie Village. The final day 75’s by both players were tournament bests.

Clark played in one tournament for the Jayhawks as a freshman last season. She tied for 31st at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in her only action.

Wilson, also a sophomore-to-be, placed fourth in the Alabama tournament. She opened the event with a tournament-leading 71, but fell to 79 on both the second and third days to finish 11 shots off the pace with a 229 total.

Wilson played in six tournaments for KU last year, including the Big 12 Championship. She averaged 81.17 strokes per round as a freshman.
