KU's Scott Wins Silver Medal at 2007 Pan-American Junior Championships

July 10, 2007

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL–Kansas freshman, Jordan Scott, took the silver medal in the men’s pole vault competition at the 2007 Pan-American games in São Paulo, Brazil, over the weekend.

Scott, a native of Watkinsville, Ga., recorded a vault of 5.10 meters which was only bested by fellow American Scott Roth’s vault of 5.30m. They were the only two competitors to top the five meter plateau.

It has been a tremendous year for the Jayhawk freshman. Preceding his silver medal, Scott was also the first freshman since 1996 to win both the Big 12 indoor and outdoor pole vault titles. He also set a new meet record at the USA Junior Championships in June and was named the Big 12 Outdoor Freshman Performer of the Year.
